Bardhi accuses the government: It is trying to deceive Brussels with the Council

The head of the DP Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, has reacted regarding the government's draft decision on environmental assessment procedures, accusing the majority of trying to present to the European Union a measure that does not address the main problem.

In a reaction on Facebook, Bardhi argues that the draft VKM determines how the environmental impact of construction projects that may affect protected areas should be assessed, but does not change the provisions of the 2024 law for these territories.

According to the Democratic MP, an additional environmental assessment procedure is not sufficient to meet the requirements of European institutions, as long as the legal changes related to protected areas remain in force.

POSTING:

The government is trying to deceive Brussels with an environmental VKM, while the infamous changes to Law 21/2024, which opened protected areas for construction, do not affect them.

The draft VKM, recently released for consultation, only defines how the environmental assessment should be carried out when a construction project may affect a protected area. This may be an additional filter, but it cannot be sold to the European Union as addressing the concern, while the law that created the problem remains intact.

The European Parliament resolution expressly states that "The European Parliament expresses serious concern about the changes to the Law on Protected Areas, which allow large infrastructure and tourism projects in ecologically sensitive areas, and calls for these legal changes to be reversed."

The Democratic Party has filed an initiative in Parliament to repeal the 2024 amendments to the law on protected areas. This is another demand of citizens who have protested for the protection of these territories, but which continues to be ignored by the concrete and dirty money prime minister.

The government has two options:

Or listen to the Albanians and Brussels, by restoring the law on protected areas to the standards required by Albania's membership in the European Union.

Or the other way is to put the law to a referendum and let the Albanians decide.

Don't be afraid of the vote.

We have plenty of prime ministers. Albania only has one.
