The Doctor, the Patient, and the Mirror

The Doctor, the Patient, and the Mirror

By Lutfi Dervishi

You put yourself in the hands of a doctor. You chose him, you trust him, and for 13 years you have followed his therapy meticulously. But the doctor is wrong. After all, he is human too.

The problem is that mistakes are repeated, the condition worsens, and therapy doesn't work. Medications are increasingly expensive, as are tests and checkups, while prescriptions seem to be written to enrich the pharmacist, not to cure the patient.

You complain, but the doctor calmly tells you: "Patience. The disease comes with a vengeance and goes away with a vengeance. A little patience."

You keep complaining, but he convinces you that, in fact, you've improved significantly compared to 2013. You just can't seem to realize how good you are.

In the end, the body can't take it anymore, it reacts, languishes, and protests.

Under pressure, the doctor finally reflects. "You are very right to react - I have reflected for a long time and I have found the solution."

But his solution is neither changing therapy, nor revising the wrong diagnosis, nor canceling the prescriptions that have overwhelmed you.

The doctor has found the solution in... communication.

“Now,” he says, “I will listen to you. I promise you as a husband that I will be by your side, faithfully.”

He even creates a special room to listen to you and places a large mirror there, where he can not only hear about your pain, but also see it.

The patient approaches the mirror, looks at himself, and then sees the doctor behind him. He turns and leaves the room.

The doctor remains alone, facing the mirror.

As he leaves, the patient listens to the doctor continuing to explain to Pasqirë how much his patient has improved...
