Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha has welcomed the consensus reached in Kosovo between the Vetëvendosje Movement and the Democratic League of Kosovo for the new president.

On social networks, Berisha congratulated Bekim Sejdiu on his candidacy for President of the Republic of Kosovo, following the agreement reached between the Vetëvendosje Movement and the Democratic League of Kosovo.

Berisha described Sejdiu as a prominent personality in the field of constitutional jurisprudence and diplomacy, mentioning his commitment as a former member of the Constitutional Court and former ambassador to Kosovo.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo and President of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Mr. Albin Kurti, and Mr. Lumir Abdixhiku, President of the Democratic League of Kosovo, signed the agreement to elect to the post of President of the Republic of Kosovo Mr. Bekim Sejdiu, a prominent personality of Kosovo in the field of constitutional jurisprudence (former member of the Constitutional Court of Kosovo) and in the field of diplomacy (former ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo to important countries).

On this occasion, on behalf of the Democratic Party of Albania, I send my warmest congratulations to Mr. Bekim Sejdiu for the high position of President of Kosovo. I wish him much success and prosperity in this high task, in achieving Kosovo's integration into the EU and NATO, as well as in strengthening its contribution to peace, stability and regional cooperation!

Also, on this occasion, I warmly congratulate Prime Minister Kurti, also the chairman of the Vetëvendosje Movement, and the chairman of the LDK, Mr. Abdixhiku, for the agreement reached and for their dignified selection in the best interest of the Republic of Kosovo and its citizens.
