Veliaj stripped of his powers, Anuela Ristani announces his departure: Time, the fairest judge

Erion Veliaj's decision to remove delegated rights has led to the removal of Anuela Ristani from the Municipality of Tirana.

Ristani has chosen to react publicly through a message on Facebook, where she does not directly mention the clash or the reasons for the decision, but focuses on her relationship with Tirana and her years of work in the municipality.

"I leave today with pride, humility and full of love for Tirana," writes Ristani, as he recalls the changes in the capital since he started working 11 years ago.

Ristani does not spare a message with ironic notes, referring to time as the "fairest judge" and implying that time itself will provide the assessment of what has been done in Tirana.

Full reaction: 

After more than a decade in the service of the most beautiful city in the world, I leave today with pride, humility, and full of love for Tirana. What everyone covets, many love, but few understand.

The city I started working for 11 years ago, when I was crossing the short but long distance of "Skënderbej" Square, which could not be called a square, is today a meeting point for visitors from all over the world, who don't know exactly how to put a name to the allure they feel, because Tirana's strongest point is the good feeling it gives you.

I am immensely grateful to all the fellow travelers of this unique experience, and to the citizens who break centuries-old prejudices and generational stereotypes to appear beautiful and proud all over the world.

Time is the fairest, most impartial, and most elusive judge. In respect of time, of what is to come, we need to see the city a little more as our own and love it for who we are, not for what it can do to us.

And as for me, I will always remain a "Xhomllikse" even though I was born in New Tirana and grew up across the ocean. I leave today with the support and love of those who mean the most to me.
