Arrest with Agas costs him his freedom, Shpataraku is sent to Peqin

Former State Police official, Uljan Shpataraku, has been transferred to Peqin detention center, after the Special Court imposed the security measure "prison arrest" on him.

Shpataraku was arrested on August 26 in the Plepave area of Durrës, during the operation to capture businessman Ergys Agasi, who had been wanted and had been on the run for several months. The former police officer was driving the vehicle in which Agasi was traveling.

According to SPAK, Shpataraku is suspected of the criminal offense of “supporting the perpetrator of a crime.” The Special Prosecution alleges that he helped Agas during the period when the latter was evading justice.

Following the arrest, authorities also searched Shpataraku's apartment in Tirana. During the search, several firearms were found, including three pistols, two shotguns, and two rifles.

According to reported data, the weapons appear to have been equipped with permits.

On August 29, the GJKKO sentenced the former officer to "prison arrest." SPAK's investigations to clarify his role in the case and his connections to other people involved continue.
