"Leave Martin alone!" Tabaku -Rama: He is using the tragedy to justify

" Leave Martin and his family alone!"

This is the appeal of Democratic MP Jorida Tabaku, who has criticized Prime Minister Edi Rama for using the tragedy of Martin Cani in arguing for the "Smart City" project.

Through social media, Tabaku writes that behind the justification for installing cameras in schools lies a project with dubious costs and a lack of transparency, while the name and pain of the victim's family should not be used to legitimize government decision-making.

Tabaku's reaction:

Using a tragedy to justify corrupt decision-making is a tragedy of a different kind.

For some time now, the Prime Minister has been using the Martin Can tragedy as an alibi for the "Smart City" project.

It is exploiting the pain of a family whose government did not even have the courage to knock on their door once. The same family is turned a deaf ear when they ask for a memorial for their son, simply because they stood with dignity and demanded justice, not compromise.

This cynicism must end, especially when it serves as a shield to hide corruption.

The family's tragedy and pain cannot be used to justify a project that today costs more than double its real value, that is being implemented without tender and transparency, and that involves dubious subcontractors.

Martin's tragedy cannot be turned into an alibi. Nor can the Prime Minister's cynicism be used as an excuse for installing cameras inside schools.

It is the parents, through their real representation on school boards, who should decide whether they want cameras inside school premises, not the corrupt government boards.

Albanian children must be protected both from such tragedies and from the cynicism of a government that seeks to use pain to cover up its own injustices.

Politics must have a limit.

Leave Martin and his family alone! Don't use their name and pain as a cover for your oppression!
