7 apartments and a series of transactions, DP requests verification of former minister Kumbaro's assets

The Democratic Party has raised claims about the assets of former Minister of Culture, Mirela Kumbaro, demanding full verification by justice and asset control institutions.

In a statement to the media, the DP's spokesperson for anti-corruption, Genta Vangjeli, said that the verification of asset declarations revealed several apartments and garages owned or co-owned by the former minister and her family.

According to the DP, the asset declarations include several apartments with areas ranging from 55 to 128 square meters, while a 92 square meter apartment was declared in 2024 with a value of 200 thousand euros and, according to the declaration cited by the DP, is still unregistered.

DECLARATION:

From the verification of the declared assets, former Minister Kumbaro results in her family owning 7 apartments; specifically:

Apartment 119.16 m², co-owned with spouse, source: income.

Apartment 128 m² in Tirana, co-owned with husband, source: income.

Apartment 92 m², value 200,000 EURO, declared in 2024, owner spouse, source: income, unregistered, has not applied for registration.

Apartment 55 m², value 1,385,560 LEK, source: DONATION, owner husband.

Apartment 69.1 m², value 72,000 EURO, source: savings, owner 50%.

Apartment 95 m², source: income, co-owned with husband, donated to daughter in September 2023.

Apartment 89.30 m², source: income, co-owned with husband, donated to son in September 2023.

Ap. 74.50 m², source: income, value 60,598 EUR, SOLD in May 2022, value 124,998 EUR.

1 garage declared in 2021, with surface area 18 m², value 12,800 EURO, source: income, owner 50%.

1 garage 18 m², declared by the husband in 2025, value 2,000 EURO, source: savings, owner 50%.

From the examination of the method of declaration, the following is observed:

Inconsistency and lack of pages according to the serial number in the declarations of 2013; 2015; 2017.

Repeated details, but different prices, such as the garage, which the Godfather declared purchased in 2021, 18 m² garage, price 12,800 euros; while the husband declares in 2025 a garage with the same area of ​​18 m², price 2,000 euros.

During the time that Kumbaro held office as Minister of Culture, her husband declared in 2015 that he also received payments in the form of honoraria from AADF, a foundation that has a very close relationship and ongoing cooperation with the Ministry of Culture.

Under these conditions, the DP requests that the HIDAKKI and SPAK fully verify the family's assets, source of income, apartment donations, purchase and sale transactions, and any discrepancies in periodic declarations.

Transparency about officials' assets is not a political choice, but a legal and moral obligation towards citizens.
