Emergencies in the summer, a season loaded with trauma and seasonal viruses

The heat is not stopping, nor are the problems caused by high temperatures. Trauma, seasonal viruses, and hypertension are the concerns that are dominating this long and scorching summer.

Head of the National Emergency Service Skënder Brataj says that coastal areas still have the highest influx of emergencies and health problems. Over 8% of visits to summer health centers are made by foreign vacationers.

Even though we are officially entering autumn, temperatures continue to be high and the head of emergency calls on citizens, especially the chronically ill and children, to avoid going out during extended peak hours.

During the three months of summer, over 57 thousand health visits were conducted in 36 summer health centers. The most common diagnoses were seasonal viruses and hypertension.

There has been no shortage of insect and reptile bites. The health centers of Pogradec, Shëngjin and Velipoja have the highest number of visits.
