French newspaper: Albania seeks confiscation of Ermal Beqiri's luxurious castle

Albanian businessman Ermal Beqiri has returned to the center of attention of French and Albanian authorities after his arrest in France.

He was detained after flying a small plane over the Penly nuclear power plant, while extradition procedures are ongoing against him to Albania, where he is under investigation by SPAK.

According to French media, Beqiri was arrested in Albert, in the Somme department, after the plane he was traveling in was spotted by authorities for descending below the permitted altitude while passing over the nuclear power plant. For this violation, he was tried in an expedited procedure and sentenced to a fine of 7,000 euros.

But the arrest in France is not the only issue that has put the Albanian businessman in the focus of the authorities.

Awaiting extradition to Albania
, Beqiri is currently in Beauvais prison, while his first request for release has been rejected. The reason is the request of the Albanian authorities for his extradition, so that he can also face the investigations of SPAK in Albania.

The Special Prosecution Office suspects his involvement in a criminal network and has placed him under the security measure of "prison arrest." He is expected to remain in custody in France until the extradition procedures are completed.

If Beqiri accepts extradition, the procedure could be completed within a few weeks. If he objects, the case will go through French court proceedings and could take several months.

Castle north of Paris
In parallel with the extradition procedures, the issue of the Albanian businessman's assets has also been raised in France.

Albanian authorities have requested the seizure of his assets in France, pending the conclusion of the legal process. Among them is a luxury property in Oise, north of Paris, purchased for around 2.6 million euros.

It is about Château d'Auteuil, in the municipality of Berneuil-en-Bray, a historic red brick building that has been offering luxury accommodation to visitors for years.

According to reports, the complex turns out to be owned by Beqiri, while the mayor of Berneuil-en-Bray, Simon Muller, has confirmed that he has only met the businessman once, by chance.

“I can't answer you.”
Beqiri's name does not appear directly in the castle's promotional materials. According to reports, it is only found in the property's legal records.

Journalists have also contacted the castle administration to get a comment on the ownership and the connection with the Albanian businessman. The response was brief.

“Më vjen keq, nuk mund t’ju përgjigjem. Ju uroj një mbrëmje të mirë”, ka thënë gruaja që iu përgjigj telefonatës, duke refuzuar të komentojë më tej.

Si u arrestua biznesmeni shqiptar
Ngjarja që çoi në arrestimin e Beqirit ndodhi në fillim të gushtit.

Ai ishte nisur me një avion të vogël privat nga aeroporti i Albertit dhe kishte fluturuar fillimisht drejt zonës së Calais, pranë Kanalit Anglez. Më pas, pasi kishte zbritur në Bretanjë, ishte rikthyer në drejtim të Normandisë.

Gjatë këtij fluturimi, avioni u pikas nga forcat ajrore franceze ndërsa ndodhej mbi centralin bërthamor të Penly.

Avioni fluturonte fillimisht në një lartësi prej rreth 1,200 metrash, por më pas Beqiri e uli atë nën kuotën e lejuar. Forcat ajrore ndërhynë dhe e shoqëruan avionin deri në aeroportin e Albertit, ku biznesmeni u arrestua sapo zbriti.

Gjatë kontrollit, atij iu gjetën edhe tre pajisje AirTag, të fshehura në rroba.

Para autoriteteve franceze, Beqiri ka deklaruar se bëhej fjalë për një gabim dhe se në momentin kur kaloi mbi centralin bërthamor ishte duke folur në telefon me nënën e tij.

7 mijë euro gjobë për fluturimin mbi centralin
Gjykata franceze e dënoi me 7 mijë euro gjobë për shkeljen e hapësirës së ndaluar.

Por përtej këtij dënimi, arrestimi i tij në Francë ka aktivizuar procedurat e ekstradimit, pasi biznesmeni rezulton i kërkuar nga autoritetet shqiptare në kuadër të hetimeve të SPAK.

SPAK i ka sekuestruar 10 pasuri dhe llogaritë bankare
Në Shqipëri, autoritetet kanë vendosur më herët nën sekuestro një sërë pasurish që lidhen me Beqirin.

Mes tyre janë prona në Vlorë, Tiranë dhe Golem, biznese, automjete, një jaht dhe llogari bankare.

Në listën e pasurive të sekuestruara përfshihen truall në Green Coast në Vlorë, truall në zonën “Hoxha Tasim” në Tiranë, prona në Rolling Hills, një apartament në Golem, jahti “Skyfall”, subjekte tregtare, një njësi shërbimi në rrugën “Çerçiz Topulli”, automjete dhe motomjete, si dhe llogari bankare në emër të tij dhe subjekteve të lidhura.

Sekuestrimi i pasurive është kryer në kuadër të procedurave të SPAK, i cili dyshon se ato mund të kenë origjinë kriminale.

Në të njëjtën dosje me Agasin dhe drejtuesen e AKSHI-t
Emri i Ermal Beqirit është përfshirë edhe në hetimet e SPAK për procedurat e prokurimit të lidhura me AKSHI-n.

Në kuadër të kësaj dosjeje, SPAK ka kërkuar masa sigurie për disa persona, mes tyre biznesmenin Ermal Beqiri, biznesmenin Ergys Agasi dhe drejtuesen e AKSHI-t, Mirlinda Kërçanaj.

Për Kërçanajn është caktuar masa “arrest në shtëpi”, ndërsa për Beqirin dhe Agasin masa “arrest me burg”.

Në dosje janë përfshirë gjithashtu zyrtarë dhe persona të tjerë, për të cilët janë caktuar masa të ndryshme sigurie.

Investigation into 12 tenders
SPAK has been investigating for a long period the procedures of 12 tenders, which are suspected of being conducted in violation of procurement rules.

As part of the investigation, suspicions of a structured criminal group, violation of equality in tenders, corruption, abuse of office and money laundering have been raised.

The investigations also include other individuals suspected of having played roles in procurement procedures and in relations between companies and state institutions. Ermal Beqiri's case now extends to two countries: in Albania, where SPAK is investigating his assets and suspected links to a criminal network and tender procedures, and in France, where he was arrested for violating airspace near a nuclear power plant.

Pending the extradition decision, the issue of his assets continues in France, including the luxurious castle in Oise.
