Mass of earth collapses during well opening in Poliçan, 31-year-old dies

A 31-year-old man lost his life during work to open a water well in the village of Zhitom, Poliçan.

According to the police, 39-year-old E. Gj., a resident of Berat, was working with a backhoe on the land of 31-year-old BK, when a mass of soil suddenly broke away during the work.

The 31-year-old man was crushed to death by the ground, and died from his injuries.

In connection with the incident, specialists from the Crime Investigation Section of the Poliçan Police Station have referred the materials to the Prosecutor's Office for 39-year-old E. Gj., suspected of the criminal offense of "Violation of occupational safety regulations".

The investigation team is continuing to work to document the full circumstances of the accident.
