Death of 36-year-old pregnant woman, criminal proceedings begin against 3

A 36-year-old pregnant woman lost her life while being transported for specialized medical assistance, while the event led to the initiation of criminal proceedings against three maternity doctors in Pogradec.

The case concerns MK, 36 years old, who was in her seventh month of pregnancy. On the evening of August 30, she presented herself at the Pogradec maternity hospital in serious condition.

After the examinations, doctors BD, 35 years old, AT, 40 years old, and S. Ç., 34 years old, decided that the patient should be transported by ambulance to Tirana to receive more specialized treatment.

But along the way, the 36-year-old's condition deteriorated. For this reason, the ambulance took her to the maternity ward of the Elbasan hospital, where doctors determined that she had passed away.

Following the incident, criminal proceedings have been initiated against the three doctors, while the materials have been referred to the Korça Prosecutor's Office for further action.

Investigations will determine whether there was negligence or a violation of medical procedures in the treatment of the 36-year-old, in a case that ended with the loss of her life.
