In Albania, the most expensive oil in the region, Italy reduces taxes again against price increases

In Albania, the most expensive oil in the region, Italy reduces taxes again

The high price of fuel has forced the Italian government to intervene again with fiscal measures.

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's cabinet has extended until September 5 the reduction in the fuel tax by 17 cents per liter, while other benefits for transporters and farmers have been provided,  Italian media report.

The decision aims to mitigate the effects of rising energy prices on the Italian economy, at a time when oil continues to trade above 2 euros per liter in many areas of the country.

But the measure has not convinced everyone. Drivers in Rome are skeptical and consider the impact of the tax cut to be limited compared to current prices. Market experts also warn that the pressure on families could continue into the fall, affecting not only fuel but also food and electricity.

The Italian government has applied tax cuts on oil since March and has renewed the measures several times, while the escalation of the conflict in Iran and the consequences on the global oil market have increased concerns about inflation.
