Berisha: Veliaj launched an open attack on Rama, he is becoming a "dead

The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has commented on the clashes between Prime Minister Edi Rama and the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, following the decision to remove the powers delegated to the Deputy Mayor, Anuela Ristani.

Responding to a citizen's question regarding developments within the Socialist Party and the possibility that the Tirana Municipality will pass to the DP in the upcoming elections, Berisha interpreted Veliaj's decision as a direct challenge to Rama.

According to Berisha, Rama has been significantly weakened and is facing an open attack from within the majority.

"Yesterday's act by Erion Veliaj proves conclusively that Edi Rama is becoming a dead horse that they are now trying to take away even the horseshoes from," declared Berisha.

He said that Rama is "under siege" and that his movements from one government villa to another show, according to him, the inability to exercise full control over the situation.

"In this context, it is the open beginning of Erion Veliaj's attack on him," Berisha said.

The DP leader also referred to the Constitutional Court's decision on Veliaj's dismissal procedure, arguing that the moment chosen by the mayor to challenge Rama is an indicator of the prime minister's weakness.

"The moment that was chosen by Erion Veliaj to throw down the gauntlet and challenge him definitively is proof of Edi Rama's extreme weakness," he said.

Berisha described the clash between Rama and Veliaj as "positive", arguing that the more the conflict between them escalates, the more the majority is damaged.

"The more they crumble, the more they gouge each other's eyes out, the more they deserve it," Berisha concluded.
