57-year-old Nexhmedin Danaj has been arrested in Dubai, with the aim of extradition to Albania, as part of the international operation codenamed "The Wanted".

Danaj was declared an international wanted person after, in April 2026, the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime had imposed the security measure "Arrest in prison" on him.

Who is Nexhmedin Danaj?

His name has been included in the investigation into a suspected international cocaine trafficking network, with activity between Albania, Italy and other European countries. The investigation was previously concretized with the international operation "Ura", where Albanian and Italian authorities issued 52 security measures.

As part of this operation, authorities seized a number of assets and business activities suspected of being linked to the criminal activity under investigation. Among them were reported to be “Vlora Cable” and “Dubai Inn”, both linked to Danaj.

The 57-year-old is known as the owner of the company "Vlora Cable" in Vlora, which operates in the field of cable television. Meanwhile, in the name of his wife, Algerta Fejzullau, there is also the business "Dubai Inn", which operates in the hotel and tourism sector.

According to suspicions raised by the investigation, Danaj, within a structured criminal group, is suspected of having co-financed, enabled and coordinated the trafficking of narcotics from Latin America to European Union countries.

Investigators also suspect that he used sophisticated financial schemes and digital transfers to make payments of significant amounts in various countries, with the aim of securing narcotics.

He is also suspected of being part of the criminal group led by Elvis Doçi, also known as 'Visi i Pojës', who was also arrested in Dubai.

The arrest in Dubai is expected to be followed by legal procedures for his extradition to Albania. Meanwhile, Interpol Tirana continues to cooperate with Interpol Abu Dhabi to complete the procedures and bring the 57-year-old to justice in Albania.
