"Rama is the godfather, Agasi is just a coordinator", Lubonja: The

Analyst Fatos Lubonja has commented on the latest political developments in the country, from the civic protest that has entered its 94th day today, to the arrest of businessman Ergys Agasi.

Speaking about the protest, Lubonja told News 24 that Albania is facing a regime and that the continuation of civic resistance will depend on the ability of protesters to organize in a new form and expand support.

"We are with a regime. What will happen later will depend a lot on how much the protesters themselves will be aware that they need to move to a different phase in organization and to bring people. There will definitely be more people, but there must be even more work in the sense that a protest becomes a movement, where different groups must unite and absorb other groups that are influenced or affected and add to it ," he said.

Regarding the arrest of Ergys Agas, the analyst said he viewed this development with skepticism.

"I viewed Agas's arrest with skepticism. In the sense that it raises questions: why was he on the run until now, why was he arrested now? They couldn't locate him or has something changed? What has changed?" Lubonja declared.

He also mentioned the version that changes in the leadership of the State Police may have influenced Agas' arrest, while adding that such an action could also serve to calm public opinion.

" Some say that a new police chief has come in who has purged the police of Agas' people. It also serves as a kind of pacifier for public opinion, while nothing major is being done. Was it done by agreement or not, or is there a fight within the factions there? We are in a country where we do not believe in the rule of law ," he said.

According to him, the businessman cannot be seen as detached from the political system that, according to the analyst, was created during the years of Edi Rama's government.

The analyst also demanded that the investigations provide answers on how Agasi obtained tenders and on the claims made in public.
