Ballon d'Or without absolute favorite, Yamal 'ignites' the race with a new record

Ballon d'Or without absolute favorite, Yamal 'ignites' the race

The race for the Ballon d'Or this season looks more open than ever. Unlike previous years, where one name dominated the predictions, this time the battle is expected to be much closer, with some of football's biggest stars aiming for the prestigious trophy.

Among the names expected to be in the running for the award are Lamine Yamal, Kylian Mbappe, Harry Kane and Ousmane Dembele. The list of 30 candidates will be published by France Football on February 8, while the winner will be announced on October 26, at a ceremony to be held in London.

Until then, every performance could have a major impact on the final decision. With margins expected to be minimal, the stars of European football still have the opportunity to influence the competition through their goals and performances.

One of them is undoubtedly Lamine Yamal, who continues to write records at a very young age. In the last La Liga match against Rayo Vallecano, the Barcelona talent scored two goals, bringing the number of goals scored in his career to 50.

With this achievement, Yamal became the youngest player in history to reach the 50-goal mark, at the age of 19 years and 49 days. The Spaniard surpassed Kylian Mbappe in this statistic, adding another record to a career that has started in spectacular fashion.
