Tensions in the Municipality of Tirana seem to have already gone beyond the walls of the institution. Following Erion Veliaj's recent moves and warnings of further dismissals, some of the affected officials have requested a meeting with Prime Minister Edi Rama.

According to  Vox News,  the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the situation created in the Municipality of Tirana and their fate after the wave of changes initiated by Erion Veliaj.

But so far, Edi Rama has not responded to the request for a meeting. This stance by the Prime Minister is an indirect signal of approval of Veliaj's actions.

A major restructuring of the management structure has begun in the Municipality of Tirana for several days. Initially, Veliaj removed the delegated powers from Anuela Ristani, who later also left the post of deputy mayor. After her, the Secretary General also resigned, while Alban Dokushi returned to this position.

Vox News sources indicate that the wave of changes has not ended.

The list of officials who have been asked or are expected to be asked to resign also includes other important leaders of the Municipality. If they refuse to resign, Veliaj is expected to proceed with their dismissal.

The fact that Rama has not accepted a meeting with them can be interpreted as an act that he does not want to be involved in the internal conflict that is taking place in the Municipality of Tirana.

If this stance continues, Veliaj will have practically full space to continue restructuring the administration and return people he trusts to key positions. /Vox News
