Alarm in Germany, new attempt at sabotage in the electrical grid

Germany is facing a second sabotage attempt on its electricity grid. Authorities have announced they are investigating an attack on a substation in the western town of Bergheim.

A police spokesman stated that it was related to an intervention in the technical infrastructure, adding that the electricity supply in the area was not affected.

"We are not assuming that this is a technical defect, but a deliberate act," authorities said. Also on Tuesday, rockets carrying conductive materials damaged power lines in the eastern German state of Brandenburg.

German authorities have been placed on high alert for attacks on critical infrastructure.
