The footage of the violence against protesters in Tirana has also attracted the attention of international media. The prestigious news network "Al Jazeera" has published footage of a protester being raped by police officers during Saturday's rally.
In the released video, the protester is seen lying on the ground while officers beat him. According to local media reports, he was left unconscious after the violence inflicted on him.
"Police in the Albanian capital, Tirana, were filmed beating a protester who was lying on the ground. Local media say he was knocked unconscious. Journalists and other protesters rushed to check on him and called an ambulance ," Al Jazeera writes.
The publication of footage by one of the well-known international news networks brings attention beyond Albania's borders to the way the police have intervened against protesters during demonstrations against Edi Rama's government.
