Brutal violence at protest, Berisha: Prosecution to identify killers with 2500

The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has reacted after today's protest in Tirana, describing it as a nine-hour confrontation between students and citizens and the police, whom he accused of violence against the protesters.

In a statement to the media, Berisha praised the resistance of the students and citizens who joined the rally, while calling on prosecutors to investigate the actions of the police officers and identify the persons responsible for the injuries.

"9 hours of tooth and nail with the bandits. 9 hours of invincibility," declared Berisha, describing the protest as an important moment in the student revolt.

He thanked the citizens, teachers, education unions, miners, intellectuals, and representatives of the Democratic Party who participated in the rally. According to him, the support of citizens is crucial for the success of the protest.

Berisha: Those who shot protesters in the eyes should be identified

The leader of the Democratic Party focused on the injuries reported during the protest, especially the case of the young man who suffered serious eye damage and underwent surgery at the Trauma Hospital.

Berisha asked the Prosecution to identify the officers responsible and investigate the use of weapons during the police intervention.

"Identify the killers who pay 2,500 euros to remove moles from the eyes, foreheads, or chests of peaceful protesters," he said, raising accusations about the police's use of force.

Berisha also requested that the Prosecution seize the plan for the deployment of the Law Enforcement Forces and hold legally accountable the employees who, according to him, have exercised violence against students and citizens.

Condemns attacks on journalists, mentions American reporter

In his statement, Berisha also condemned the reported incidents against journalists during the protest.

"I condemn the attacks on journalists. They threw fuel at Klevin Muka. They took an American reporter to the region," he declared.

The DP leader also expressed gratitude for the support that, according to him, the protest has received from representatives in the United States Congress, the European Parliament, the Council of Europe, and the German Bundestag.

Today's protest was accompanied by clashes between protesters and police, the use of tear gas, water cannons and other means of force, while several people were reported injured. The students have announced that they will return to the protest tomorrow, at 14:00, in front of the Ministry of Education.
