She sought protection from institutions in Kosovo before being killed, Arlinda

New details have emerged regarding the letter sent to the authorities in Kosovo, before Arlinda Zekaj was murdered in Peja on Sunday evening. It is learned that three days before the serious incident, she had warned the institutions about the danger to her life.

In a letter addressed to the prosecutor in Peja, she urgently requested measures be taken against those who, as she wrote, had failed to fulfill their duties in protecting her life.

"I urgently request that measures be taken against all officials who have seriously failed to fulfill their duties, shifting responsibility from one to another, thus allowing the consequences and the danger to my life to continue. I request the immediate execution of the court order and the opening of investigations against all officials involved, starting with the CSW," the letter states.

Among other things, she wrote that she hopes that the responsible institutions will not be forced to account only after her life has been taken. She described the reaction from the institutions as her "last hope."

"This is my last hope. I hope that the day does not come when you and the responsible institutions are forced to account only after my life has been taken. Now I understand why there are so many murders! The woman with the law in her hand is killing the woman - not the man. Painful to the bone," the letter concludes.

The victim also reported that on the day of the serious incident, she had reported domestic violence to the police. In connection with this report, her husband was arrested and subsequently detained for 48 hours.

After her return to the apartment, at around 21:10, the police were notified that the woman had been found without signs of life. The suspect in the murder is her brother-in-law, who is still at large.
