Youth protest expands, "Ismail Qemali" students boycott classes

The protest against the government is no longer confined to university auditoriums. This Thursday, students from several high schools in Tirana and Kamza skipped class to join the student-led movement.

Among the schools where boycotts have been reported is the "Ismail Qemali" high school in the capital. A small fire was reported near the building in the early hours of the morning, while young people can be heard chanting "Rama in prison, Berisha in prison."

Even in Kamëz, high school students have abandoned classes and taken to the streets, expanding the map of protests that have engulfed Tirana for two days.

The involvement of high school students marks another development in the youth movement, which is expanding beyond universities, following rallies accompanied by tensions and clashes with the police.

Protests are expected to continue in other areas, while it remains to be seen whether other high schools will join the boycott of classes.
