"Their fight is ours too", young Italians stand alongside Albanian

Young Italians have expressed solidarity with Albanian students, following yesterday's protest in Tirana and clashes with police in front of the Ministry of Education.

Through a statement, the Network of High School Students in Italy (Rete degli Studenti Medi) condemned the use of violence against Albanian protesters, who took to the streets to demand accessible education, better conditions in schools and more opportunities for the future.

"When young generations take to the streets to demand change, the response of institutions cannot be repression, but dialogue and taking responsibility," the Italian students' reaction states.

They emphasized that the demands of Albanian youth for quality education and equal opportunities are also their demands, expressing support for the protesters. “Their fight is also ours ,” declared the organization’s representatives.

Italian students also announced that they will join the protest and national strike to be held this Saturday in Rome, where they will demand the guarantee of the right to education, safe and accessible schools, and more attention from institutions.

"The squares belong to those who fight for a better present. No rubber baton can erase ideas ," concludes the message of solidarity with Albanian students.
