Student protest, Interfaith Council calls on institutions: Citizens should be

The Interreligious Council of Albania has called on citizens and institutions to choose dialogue and responsibility, at a time when protests and clashes have accompanied the country in recent days.

In a public statement, representatives of religious communities emphasize that the concerns of citizens and students deserve to be heard seriously, while institutions must provide concrete, transparent and lawful responses.

The Council underlines that the right to protest peacefully is a fundamental democratic value, but condemns violence, destruction of property and violation of the rights of others. According to the statement, damage to family businesses directly affects the livelihoods of citizens, while attacks on educational institutions and diplomatic missions violate security and mutual respect.

"Peace does not mean silence in the face of injustice, justice cannot be built through violence, and authority cannot be exercised without responsibility," the statement said.

The Interfaith Council calls on all parties to avoid escalation and see each other as part of the same society. According to it, the country needs less accusations and more listening, less confrontation and more responsibility.

In conclusion, religious representatives demand that citizens be heard, institutions be responsive, justice be guaranteed, and the law be respected, prioritizing social peace and the common good.
