Police threaten parents: You will be held responsible for what your children do

The State Police have issued another strong and direct warning to parents and legal guardians, asking them to take full responsibility for the presence of their children in the violent protests of recent days.

Through an official statement, police authorities have emphasized the increasing number of minors on the front lines of clashes, while announcing that they will take legal measures and document any case where children are used or incited to commit illegal acts.

According to the State Police, the protection of children is not only the duty of institutions, but also falls directly on parents:

"If your child is missing from school, take an interest in where he or she is. No child should be found among stones, pyrotechnics and tear gas," the police appeal, shifting the burden of control to families.
The statement further emphasizes that the legal and moral responsibility initially lies with the parents:

"The safety of children is a responsibility that cannot be negotiated and cannot be used for any purpose. [...] This responsibility belongs, first and foremost, to parents and legal guardians."
In addition to the appeal to parents, the State Police has issued clear threats of legal proceedings against any person or structure suspected of using minors as human "shields" in clashes with law enforcement.

"Using children as shields for acts of violence is not an exercise of the right to protest. It is an unacceptable action that violates their safety and rights. Any suspected case of incitement, organization or exploitation of minors for illegal actions will be documented and referred to the competent institutions, in accordance with the law," the police warn.
In concluding the statement, the authorities request that participants in the gatherings distance themselves from masked persons and acts of destruction of public and private property, insisting that "children are no one's shield and cannot be turned into instruments of clashes."
