EU Delegation reacts after protest escalation

The European Union Delegation to Albania has reacted to the escalation of violence during the protest, condemning the acts of violence and the destruction of public and private property.

In its response, the EU Delegation called on protesters to show restraint and avoid any acts of violence, stressing that violence has no place in democracy.

"We strongly condemn the escalation of violence during the protest and the destruction of public and private property. We call on protesters to show restraint and avoid any acts of violence. Violence has no place in a democracy."

Freedom of assembly and expression are fundamental rights and core European values. They must be respected and exercised peacefully.

"Constructive dialogue between all parties is the only way forward to address legitimate concerns," the delegation states.
