Tirana in flames from the student revolt, Rama remains silent and brings out

While the student protest in Tirana has escalated, with clashes, fire and tear gas, Prime Minister Edi Rama has not yet reacted to the situation.

In his place, Rama has forced Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu to come out with a public message, which condemned the violence and called for calm and restraint.

In her response, Koçiu warns that attacks on institutions and destruction of property could harm development, stability and trust in the country.

Albana Koçiu's reaction:

"Albania has paid an extremely high price for the chaos of the past, where in the name of anger and revolt, institutions were attacked, property was destroyed, and the country was plunged into a crisis that cost it many years of development, stability, and trust. The consequences of that chaos held the country hostage for decades, leaving scars that we still feel today.

The images of violence, flames, and clashes in Tirana remind us of how fragile the line that separates peaceful protest from chaos is.

In these hours, calm, restraint, and prudence are needed. Institutions are public property, businesses are someone's business, roads belong to everyone, and security is the right of every citizen.

"Albania does not need to burn to change. It needs to build, progress and protect what it has achieved."
