Supermarket roof collapses in South Korea, injuring 38

At least 38 people were injured after part of the roof of a supermarket collapsed in the South Korean city of Daegu. Another 66 people were evacuated from the building after the incident, while authorities launched an investigation to determine the cause of the collapse.

According to the local fire department, the incident occurred at 10:16 a.m. Nine of the injured were transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.

Initially, there was concern that the number of injured could increase, but rescue teams at the scene assessed the possibility of other people being seriously injured as highly unlikely.

Local fire department spokeswoman Yoon Jong-mi confirmed that post-collapse operations were continuing at the scene. The cause of the incident remains unclear, while relevant authorities are investigating the circumstances that led to the collapse of part of the supermarket's roof.
