Public administration will have its own ministry. Prime Minister Edi Rama has announced that the Ministry of Public Administration will be created next week, also signaling the name that is expected to lead it.

The Prime Minister justified the creation of the ministry with the importance that public administration has taken on in the work of the government and in Albania's European integration process.

"We will create the Ministry of Public Administration next week, precisely because the topic of public administration is now a very central topic of the government's work, but it is also a very central topic of Albania's further European statehood. It is necessary that, through the Ministry of Public Administration, a model that many other European countries have, we expand the range of tasks, the range of jobs and, of course, the range of ambitions to raise the European state of Albanians higher ," Rama said.

Rama hinted that Adea Pirdeni, the current Minister of State for Public Administration, will be at the head of the new institution.

"In my view, it is not disputed that the Ministry of Public Administration can only be led by the state ministry for Public Administration ," he said.

The ministry in question, which Rama sells as a step towards the European model, remains to be seen whether it will bring about a more efficient administration, as the prime minister claims, or simply another link in the government structure.
