After two serious incidents in schools, another attack shocks Poland

Three people were injured on Saturday after a knife attack at a higher education college in Warsaw, the capital of Poland. The suspected perpetrator is a 21-year-old student, while the injured are two 17-year-old girls and a 24-year-old woman.

According to police spokesman Jakub Filipiak, one of the injured was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the other two did not require hospital treatment.

According to the state-run PAP news agency, the three women had gone to the college to submit their registration documents. The suspect and the injured people were reportedly not known to each other.

The attack in Warsaw is the third serious incident reported in a few days at Polish educational institutions.

On Thursday, a 15-year-old former student killed a cleaning worker and injured two teachers at a primary school in Leszczydol-Nowiny, northeast of Warsaw. On Wednesday, a 19-year-old injured ten people, including himself, at a school in Ostrołęka, north of the capital.

Following these events, Polish authorities have increased security measures at educational institutions. According to Reuters, thousands of police officers visited schools across the country on Friday, October 9, to calm students and educational staff, amid concerns about the possibility of further incidents.
