Bad weather has caused flooding, property damage and road traffic problems in several regions of Italy. Heavy rains and overnight storms have affected areas from the south of the country to the outskirts of Rome.

On the Aeolian Islands, especially in Lipari, dozens of homes were flooded, while vehicles were left stranded in the port area of Sottomonastero.

Roads were covered in mud and debris as the Ponte and Valle streams overflowed their banks, carrying material to beaches and the sea. Firefighters also intervened to help stranded drivers.

There were also problems in Bari, in the Puglia region, where the Basilica of Saint Nicholas, one of the city's important religious sites, where the saint's relics are kept, was flooded.

The intervention of firefighters, volunteers and believers helped to cope with the situation. The relics were not damaged, while the elevator used by people with disabilities was damaged.

Meanwhile, in Ancio and Nettuno, near Rome, flooding of roads and homes has prompted calls for a state of natural disaster. According to reported data, 80 millimeters of rainfall have been recorded within 24 hours, worsening the situation in these areas.
