Kosovo Towards New Elections? Hamza Rejects President Without a Deal

Kosovo appears to be heading towards new elections, while political parties continue to fail to reach an agreement on a solution to the institutional impasse.

PDK Chairman Bedri Hamza has reacted to Prime Minister Albin Kurti's proposal to vote on the Draft Law on Specialized Chambers and the election of the President.

Hamza has stated that PDK agrees with the passage of the law, but has opposed the way Kurti is handling the issue of the President, calling for an agreement between political parties.

"The law must pass, the president can be elected, but not a president without an agreement. No, this is the president, take it or leave it ," Hamza declared.

The PDK leader has also questioned the seriousness of the prime minister's approach, referring to the change in positions within a short period of time.

"How serious is this work when today alone there have been three or four different positions," he said.

Hamza also opposed the idea that the issue of the President be resolved through the imposition of a name, while raising questions about why this issue was not discussed earlier in meetings between the parties.
