Donald Trump announced the deal for Russian oil, Zelensky reacts

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has reacted to the agreement between Trump and Putin that foresees the import of large quantities of Russian diesel oil into the United States.

Zelensky described the deal as a gift to Russian President Vladimir Putin, arguing that it constitutes "an investment in a war that should be ended, not prolonged," the BBC reports.

According to Trump's announcement, Putin has agreed to allow the immediate shipment of 300,000 tons of diesel fuel to the US and global markets. Another 500,000 tons are expected to be shipped in November, as well as an additional one million tons.

According to reported information, as part of the agreement, the US Treasury Department is expected to suspend sanctions on Russian diesel exports until April 7. However, other restrictive measures, including the freezing of Russian assets in US banks, will remain in force.

In a post on the Truth Social platform, Trump also announced that another three million tons of Russian diesel oil could be sent within a short period of time. According to him, the implementation of this part of the deal will depend on the condition of Russian refineries, some of which have been hit by Ukrainian attacks.

On the other hand, Putin stated that Russia is ready to supply oil and petroleum products to both the United States and international markets. However, his statement did not specify specific quantities.

In his reaction on social media, the Ukrainian president warned that Russia would respond to this agreement with more attacks and terror against Ukraine.

"We count on America's just support for the protection of life and people in Ukraine, as well as for the United States to have an equally strong conversation with Russia. A strong conversation, not a weak one," Zelensky wrote.
