Berisha-Rama: Those who failed to resign suffered fatal consequences

The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has asked Edi Rama to resign and reminded him that those who failed to leave power at the right time have suffered fatally.

In a meeting with DP leaders in Tirana, Berisha called on opposition members and supporters to stand alongside the protesting students, while condemning what he described as brutal and unprecedented violence against peaceful demonstrators.

Berisha : Every one of you, every member, every supporter of the DP must be on the side of the students at this hour of history.
Condemning once again with the greatest force the brutal, unprecedented violence against peaceful protesters and expressing our full solidarity with the student protest, I remind Edi Rama that there is absolutely no hope.
So resign so that the crisis does not swallow you up.
I resign because history has proven that those who did not know how to resign, suffered in the most fatal way.
Let me remind you of a moment here, in 1990, on December 11, at the plenum of the Central Committee of the Party, Ramiz Alia tells the members of the plenum: They want my head, because those students wanted him to go to the city to meet them. They are, he says, for a Ceausescu scenario.
But let's be honest, Ramiz Alia understood that Ceausescu's scenario was swallowing him up, so he waited and met the students.
Now, these students are not asking for a meeting, they are asking for his resignation.
They are asking for his resignation and it may seem like a punishment without recourse to him, but he has filled his cup, he has exceeded everything.
So I tell him to resign immediately rather than later.
